The Labor-Management Center, Inc. is a dynamic organization staffed with experienced educators and practitioners dedicated to providing the highest standard of excellence in education and training in the constantly evolving field of labor/management relations, human resources, employment law, dispute resolution and union leadership.
Faculty and Staff
The Center’s faculty and staff consist of subject matter experts. The faculty are all long-term and highly credentialed educators and practitioners with many years experience in the relevant subject areas.
Director
Thomas J. Germano,Ph.D., is the Director of the Labor-Management Center.
Dr. Germano directed Cornell University’s Industrial and Labor Relations Extension on Long Island from 1976-2003. He has been creating and conducting credit and non-credit programs for labor, management and labor-management groups in the public and private sectors for more than 30 years.. He has spoken around the world on the subject of Preventing Violence in the Workplace.
Dr. Germano is an active arbitrator and mediator who has conducted more than 2,000 hearings in the public and private sectors. He serves on labor panels for the American Arbitration Association, the National Mediation Board, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and numerous other local and national industry panels. Dr. Germano received his Ph.D. from the City University of New York’s Graduate Center. His doctoral dissertation: “Labor Relations in the United States Postal Service" is considered the seminal work on the subject.
Dr. Germano, a former President of the Long Island Chapter of the Industrial Relations Research Association (LERA), co-hosts the weekly radio program “Labor Lines.”
